Sønstebø is beautifully located on the north side of the river called “Bø-elva”. By the river, you will find a small bathing place. If you want more beach life, you can ride a bike about 3 kilometers and find a nice sandy beach. Bicycles for both children and adults may be borrowed.
It is also possible to borrow canoes and paddle on Bø-elva. Here you can find different birds and beavers. You can also fish in the river.
There are nice marked hiking trails within walking distance from the house. You can reach different destinations and even reach to Lifjell if you wish.
The farmyard has a 400 years old history and contains 7 buildings. The oldest; a storehouse, is from 1626. In this building, it is possible to stay overnight if you wish to dream back to the old days. There are no other facilities in this house, so you must use the bathroom and kitchen in the roost.
In the smokehouse there is an old big wood-fired baking oven, and it might be possible to fire it up and bake bread or roast pizza after a closer appointment with us.
The oldest part of the barn was rebuilt after a fire in 1867. Some of the houses in the farmyard are still under renovation.
The 32 m2 roost is converted into accommodation, and is completely renovated in the spring of 2018. The house contains a new bathroom with heated floor, bedroom with comfortable double bed and living room/ kitchen containing a corner sofa which can easily be transformed into a double bed. Outside you can enjoy breakfast and warm summer evenings. There is a bonfire available if you want to barbeque, trampoline and big lawn to lean on. There is TV and wireless internet. It is possible to borrow a cot / high chair.
You can also meet our two kidding cats, rabbit and hens.
